In 2017, software visionaries – Sarah Rodehorst and Janice Edwards – reunited at the Flying Biscuit, an Atlanta-based restaurant. Over omelets, grits, and coffee, they decided to form a startup – one that would ultimately transform the way businesses approach employee separations.
Onwards HR is not their first startup. Sarah and Janice have spent the last 20 years launching B2B SaaS products in the human resource sector at various companies. They met in 2000 on the Advanced Technology Development Center (ATDC) campus at Georgia Tech when they worked at Connecture, a health insurance sales automation software startup.
At Connecture, Sarah spent most of her career leading delivery and market strategy. After Healthcare Reform passed, she founded and led the company's Healthcare Center of Excellence and Government Division. Under her leadership, Sarah's division closed $18 million in the first 12 months, which enabled Connecture to go public in an IPO in late 2014.
Sarah had the opportunity to exit Connecture, which she took when ADP recruited her to lead Healthcare Reform for their newly formed ADP Health Compliance division. At ADP, she scaled the organization from 2 to 250 employees, onboarding team members and optimizing processes to best support the division's growth.
Janice earned a B.A. in Molecular Biology at Princeton University and a master's degree in Public Health (MPH) in Environmental and Occupational Health from Emory University. At Connecture, she led Product Management and helped design their initial health plan product offering. Janice left Connecture in 2005 to help found the startup, Colibrium. She not only designed the first version of Colibrium's software, but she ultimately led both the Product Management and Delivery teams. Ultimately, HGS saw the value in the Colibrium product and team and acquired the company in 2015.
Onwards HR has experienced the same success as the products the two innovators have launched over the last 20 years. Their analytics-driven human capital risk platform streamlines terminations with compassion and compliance. To date, Onwards HR clients have calculated more than $12 million in severance pay, 850 severance agreements, and 1000 furloughs, all while reducing processing time by 75%. Some of the largest organizations in the United States and abroad trust Onwards HR to manage their workforce reductions.
"Our mission is to manage human capital risk by using analytics to bring a human-first approach to terminations."
